For Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls our team began this project with a detailed site visit to gain a thorough understanding of the school’s needs and the existing layout. The brief was to create a large covered outdoor area that would not only maximise year-round use of the space but also complement the school’s striking contemporary architecture.
We designed and installed a 20m x 15m bespoke canopy that now serves as a functional and visually appealing extension of the school’s facilities. This structure provides essential shelter for pupils, ensuring they remain protected from the elements in all weather conditions.
To complete the installation, we incorporated a full guttering system for effective rainwater management, along with decorative wooden infills and integrated planters to soften the space and enhance its aesthetic appeal. The result is a practical, inviting area that aligns with the school’s modern environment and supports outdoor learning and social interaction.
