Look at timber in more depth. Request timber that has undergone planning for a sleek surface, or opt for a glu-laminated canopy, known for its exceedingly smooth finish devoid of splinter concerns.
Framework Fixings
Some timber canopy suppliers will fix the canopy together with unsightly fixing which ruins the final appearance of the canopy. Ask what fixings will be used to join the framework together and maybe ask for some pictures from their portfolio. For the best-looking canopy, use a supplier who can offer invisible fixings – these are internal fixings which are created using specially designed timber mullions.
Protection from Rotting
Timber is highly susceptible to deterioration and weathering. It’s worth noting that the initiation of rot often commences from the base, where water can seep into the posts. To prevent rot, it is advisable to opt for timber products that offer additional protection at ground level, such as bolsters.
Sustainable Sourcing
The global forests hold immense significance for our collective well-being, as they furnish us with renewable resources and energy, uphold biodiversity, and safeguard both land and water resources. Given the perilous state of many of these forests worldwide, it is prudent to opt for a supplier that utilises timber sourced from sustainable origins. Ideally, select a supplier whose timber derives from certified forestry sources, such as PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).
